poster art
5/11/17
Students looked at the Golden Gate National parks posters created by the artist Michael Schwab and observed and discussed part of what makes these posters so eye catching. In their classrooms, students have researched a place in Marin and they're in the process of creating a poster for their location. Students got a crash course in Typography (the art of arranging type) and researched a simple image that relates to their location to draw.
Here are some pics of the finished teacups!
chinese Teacups
4/3/17
Students learned about tea drinking customs in China and viewed a variety of examples of Chinese teacups. They first sketched images onto paper about what their teacup would look like as well as the imagery they will draw on their teacups. They used model magic clay to sculpt a teacup using a pinch pot technique. In the coming weeks students will use Sharpies and paint markers to draw their images from sketches onto the tea cups.

Wire figures
3/2/17
Students are exploring figure sculpture with colored wire. They first had to create a figure using 2 pieces of wire. They had to bend, twist, and turn the wire to create their person. Currently they are working to have their figure in an action pose with the addition of a prop that will help their figure stand on its own.
